History

The beginnings of the AFTRA Retirement Fund dates back to 1954, when the Fund was negotiated through an agreement between the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) and the broadcast networks. The Fund was later expanded to include participants working in the sound recording and broader entertainment industries.

The AFTRA Retirement Fund began paying pension benefits in 1958. The AFTRA Retirement Fund was among the first funds to provide pension benefits for those in the performing arts.

Today, the AFTRA Retirement Fund serves participants and their families from coast-to-coast.
